Provenance should prefer source citation, lawful access, careful excerpting, and evidence context over unnecessary republication of restricted material.
If you believe material on Provenance is infringing, unsafe, private, wrongly attributed, or should not be public, use the project contact channel and include the record URL, the concern, and enough context to evaluate it.
Takedown and correction requests should be handled through an auditable review path where possible, while urgent safety or privacy issues may require faster restriction.
Takedown policy gaps
- Finalize copyright/takedown intake address and required request fields.
- Define retention of removed/restricted audit history.
- Define contributor licensing and attribution rules.
